Artist Bio
Krystal Amber has made a name for themselves as someone who defies all the rules. Weird, punk, and stubborn to a fault.
Originally from regional Western Australia, Krystal found their love for movement young, channelling their boundless energy into dance and gymnastics. Eventually their love of performing and rolling on the ground led them to Circus. In 2021 Krystal entered full time training at NICA and has since continued developing their craft under the guidance of ROOKES emerging artist program.
Whilst studying they co-founded Darling & Daring productions, a circus company that creates opportunities for emerging artists, today Krystal works in the company as both a director and artist performing in fringe festivals across the country.
Specialising in contortion Krystal uses their extreme flexibility to push the boundaries of what a body can do. They mix this skill with their other circus disciplines; tumbling, acrobatics and aerials. An enigma by all accounts they create work that reflects their complex lived experience as a non-binary neurodiverse artist. Forcing audiences to question what is possible and sit in the uncomfortable.
